Hello! My name is Heidi Good Swiacki. I have been married to Steve for 25 years, which has been filled with laughter, trust and love. We have 2 great kids, Ashton 22 and Chris 16. I have ALS, aka Lou Gehrigs Disease. I was officially diagnosed March '05, I was just turning 45. This blog will be about a myriad of topics. I will share my ALS story which will hopefully encourage others. It will show that quality of life comes in many forms. I have to tell you up front that there will be some spiritual references. Don't be afraid or turned off by that. Since I have had ALS I have seen many miracles. Let's be realistic, who can be a happy, non-verbal,ventilated quadriplegic without Faith? I hope you will join me and make this an interesting, educational, inspirational forum. Humor and the ability to enjoy life is required! :)

Hello, Steve here. To help with the healing process, I am going to continue on with Heidi's blog, primarily talking about our lives and how we as a family are learning to live on with Heidi's memories pushing us forward. Topics covered will be geared towards the affects ALS has on loved ones.

THE NEXT 35,040 HOURS

March 25, 2017..

Heidi, we lost you 4 years ago today.

You have missed so much. It is so hard not to think about how our lives would be had ALS not taken you from us.

Ashton and Christopher have grown into beautiful adults, they have your compassion, your humor and they both have laughs that are  easy to distinguish in a crowd. They love life the way you did, throwing it all into the wind and not caring what blows back.

Chris moved out last year in July, he packed all his things into a moving van and headed up North. He is happy with his life which is all any parent could want. You would be so proud of your son. He is continuing his career path in the restaurant industry and has landed a job at a place that appreciates his hard work. Buddy is his pit-bull mix, smart as hell but stubborn, just like Chris.

Ashton is engaged, she is so much like you Heidi, she found your wedding planner and has been kicking ass and taking names getting things ready for when the day comes. You would have approved of her man. He took me out to dinner and asked  my permission to marry our baby girl.  Ashton is wearing  your ring, she was all set to wear your dress, but when it was  unsealed the air attacked the fabric and well I just can't understand why she does not want to wear a yellow dress? Guy thing I guess.

What about me you ask, well I am doing well..content, happy, engaged to be married.

There is really so much more Heidi, We all miss you terribly.

  2. I found your blog today. I will be praying for the three of you as you grieve for your mom and wife.

Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life! I am glad to hear that Heidi is in heaven with her Lord and Savior.
